Somato Emotional Release (SER)
SER is a process that expands on the principles of CranioSacral therapy to help the mind and body to deal with the residual effects of trauma. Experiences that are traumatic or overwhelming are often too much to process at that time and the emotional aspect is ‘walled off’ in the body tissues.
This body-mind approach will help you to explore, express, release, process or integrate any suppressed emotions that may be a factor in your ill health. This is all done at your own pace accordance with your inner wisdom - that part of you that knows exactly what the problem is, how it came about, what needs to happen for a resolution and in what time scale.
Frequently asked questions about Somato Emotional Release
What should I expect during a session?
We will take a thorough medical history, including questions that you may not feel are relevant to your symptoms, but we need a full timeline of your health. You will lie down fully clothed and we will assess the connective tissue to feel where you may be holding any unprocessed emotions. Then we allow the body to unwind and release at its own pace while we listen and follow the release of your body.
How often should I have Somato Emotional Release?
Emotional release can take a while to integrate, usually, it is best to check in with yourself to see when you would like to come for your next session - you are your own best guide.
What are the benefits of Somato Emotional Release?
We hope to remove the impact of holding unprocessed emotions. These emotions are often non-conscious as a part of you locked them away at a time when you didn’t have the resources to work through them. You are probably aware of the cost of holding these emotions in the symptoms you have, but the link between the emotion and the symptom may not be obvious at first.
